MENDING THE WORLD ONE SONG AT A TIME

Songs connect us together in a deeply personal and universal way.

Music helps us feel in our bodies the connection to others, the intangibility of culture and helps us transform our wounds into a force for good. We do this, one song at a time and one conversation at a time.

These stories about songs by those who make them and those who listen to them are stories about all of us who want to feel human again. Stories help us connect with our emotions. They are core to our human experience.

Listening to each other

A song told as a story or a story about a song galvanises our energy; and once shared, helps us reconnect with ourselves and connect with others. Because when we hear stories, we take the time to slow down and listen – to listen to each other deeply.

We are living in times of dogmatic deception, destruction and division. As the political apparatus seeks to dehumanise us, we must reclaim our humanity. We must hold onto our capacity for dialogue, connection and love.

We all have a story to share

‘Mending the world one song at a time’ is my heartfelt and lifelong project. I will soon post stories about songs by artists and other creative people. Meanwhile I leave you with a few quotes by artists/authors who never cease to inspire me.

‘Music and literature take me straight into someone else’s experience, and straight out of my own.’
Kae Tempest

‘music … a proxy for our humanity together’

‘It’d be cool if we could see the worlds within the songs inside each other’s heads’
